How can I monitor my credit?

Free Credit Report Services

The easiest way to monitor your credit is to request a free credit report from one of the three major bureaus. You are entitled to a free report from each bureau every year so you can request one every four months. You can request reports online at www.annualcreditreport.com You can also monitor your bank and credit card statement for suspicious activity. You should also make sure to shred documents that contain your personal identifying information before you throw them away.

Paid Credit Monitoring Services

You can also consider signing up for a credit monitoring service, but most charge around $100 a year for the service. Credit monitoring won’t protect against identity theft but it may allow you to catch problems before the problems get out of hand. Credit monitoring can also help you detect credit card fraud.
